Impact

Our authorization system will be briefly unavailable during the restart. Any request that requires a permission check will fail with an error for approximately 30–60 seconds.

This affects all API operations, including calling functions, accessing apps and storage, and managing resources such as volumes and environments. An increase in failure rates will occur during the restart window for a period of ~30 seconds, affecting approximately ~15% of requests, as the majority of requests are served from cache or will be retried by the Modal client.

Recovery

Once the restart is complete, all operations resume normally with no action required on your end.
